Your post was six and one half years ago, so I don't know if you are still looking at the forum or if your email connection still works!
I am researching my husband's great grandfather and his history. His name is William Skellie Matteson. He was born in East Erie, PA, very close to where your William Skellie was located in New York, and I can't help but think there must be some connection. My Wm. S. Matteson's mother was Emily Louisa Castle. I have not found any data about her parents. I am wondering if her mother may have married into the Skellie clan, making a Skellie Emily Louisa's step-father....?
Do you have any record of the Castle surname in your findings?
