Hello!
The Edward Skeete you've asked about may be my 4g-grandfather, according to some research done by a family member. Both his name and that of Elizabeth Lake Hinds appear on a chart given me by my aunt, some years ago.
This is what I know for sure: My great-grandfather's name was Hillary Leon Hinds SKEETE, and he came to Texas from Barbados in 1869, at age 11 or 12.
I understand there's a record of his baptism at Christ Church, Barbados, Oct. 6, 1857. His mother was Sarah Christian Skeete. She also left Barbados and came to Texas in 1869.
Hillary Skeete m. Irene Elizabeth Thomas, 30 Aug. 1880, in Galveston Co., TX. They had these children: John Farr Skeete, Renn Thomas Skeete, Taylor Cade Skeete, Ethel May Skeete, Irene Elizabeth Skeete, Sarah Lucille Skeete, and Leon Hines Skeete.
Irene Elizabeth Skeete (1896-1996) was my grandmother. I'll be eager to hear about anything you dig up!
