I make no claim to accuracy but: There was a Alexander Skeen b. 27 Oct 1621, Scotland, who had a son John b. 1649, who had at least nine children among who was a John or James (there was also an Alexander), J or J had a son Peter b. abt. 1703 who had a son named Jonathan Alexander, who migrated to the US from Scotland. There is plenty of room for error about the time of migration.
