I was wondering if anyone has ANY information on the name of SKARA? This is my Grandfarther's name although he is deceased since April 1984 -Andrew Skara.
I can tell you that his family obviously went through the depression and had to have "Mount Loretto" in Staten Island, N.Y. take him in order to care for him as the family could not at that time. His Mother's name was Susan (maiden name?). She lived to be 101 yrs old. She passed in I believe 1991. My ggfather I know nothing about. I know that My Grandfather's(Andrew) siblings names are: Nellie(who is deceased now whom also spent time in Mount Loretto in Staten Island,N.Y.) Dolly, and Helen(one of them is a 'half-sister' to the rest). Don't know much of this history either unfortunately. Andrews Father originated from I believe Czek and his Mother from Ugoslavia(spelling?). They came to the US and settled here for the remainder of their lives. I can tell you that they settled in Brooklyn, N.Y.
My Grandfather(Andrew skara) married Julie Donatone(dob-04/29/1918 and died 11/02/99)which he met through his sister Nellie at Mount Loretto. Julie Donatone and Nellie were friends there. Andrew and Julie Skara had two children: Rosemary(dob 1948) and Andrew(1943). Andrew and Julie brought their children up in Brooklyn, N.Y. and eventually settled permanently in Staten Island, N.Y.. Which in turn leads to: Rosemary marrying Peter O'Brien and having two children: Maria(dob 1968) and Robert(1969)-Robert now has one child(dob 1993). Rosemary and Peter divorced and remarried to date.
I would really appreciate ANY information that you may provide as I have nothing at this time and am having problem locating the SKARA name.
