Skains 60th Anniversary
Bennie and Rose (Warren) Skains of Palestine celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Aug. 10 with their family and friends. They have two sons: B.R. and Terry, four grandchildren and five great grandchildren. The couple went to school together in the first grade at Long Lake School (1935). They were married Aug. 10, 1946 in their home at 612 N. Jackson St. in Palestine. Bennie worked 10 years for Knox Glass Containers, 15 years for Missouri Pacific Railroad, then retired with 29 years with United Telephone Systems. Rose retired from Industrial Garment Factory, then retired from United Telephone Company as an operator in 1974.

Funeral services for Bennie Skains, 78, of Palestine, will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Bailey & Foster Chapel, Palestine with Dr. Edward L. Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Creek Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster Funeral Home, Palestine.

Mr. Skains died Saturday at Palestine Regional Medical Center. He was born Jan. 12, 1930 in Conroe to Benjamin Franklin and Oda Bell “Peggy” Lafite Skains. He was retired after 35 years with United Telephone Co. He was a Baptist.

Mr. Skains was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Mary Lou Wright. He is survived by his wife of 61 years Rose Warren Skains of Palestine; two sons, Bennie Ray “B.R.” Skains and wife Betty of Laguna Park, and Terry C. Skains and wife Pam of Palestine; four grandchildren, Shannon Guy Skains, Josh Ray Skains, Kelly Nicole Skains Beasley and Crystal Rose Skains; four great grandchildren, Riley Skains, Macie Skains, Kinley Skains and Caleb Beasley.

Pallbearers will be Jerry Hofnor, Josh Skains, Guy Skains, Michael Beasley, Bo Pendley and Jerry Hibbler. Honorary pallbearers will be all Embarq Employees.

Condolence calls will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Bailey & Foster Funeral Home, Palestine.

I have no other information on this family. I was searching for someone else and only posted this to help
