I am new to researching this mystery, but have been obsessed with finding the answer. This is a long post, but I have tried to compile information from many other posts and websites concerning the matter so as to see if anyone else can help to figure out this old question. Who is the Elizabeth Sizemore Franklin married to Thomas Jefferson FRANKLIN ca1800 and who are her parents. They were both said to be born in South Carolina ca1780's. Supposed to have migrated from Richland County, South Carolina ca1811 to Monroe County, Alabama (Mississippi Territory). Thomas FRANKLIN was in 1816 census of Monroe County, Alabama (Mississippi Territory). Is Elizabeth really from South Carolina or did Thomas Franklin marry her in Alabama. Let me add to this by saying that I have established and documented my creek descent from the marriage of Michael Ehlert/Elliott to a creek lady named "Peggy" from the upper creek village of Mucklassa where Michael was the trader for that village. Michael Ehlert is mentioned as a Dutch man in the writings of Benjamin Hawkins where it is stated that he was married to Peggy and was an Indian countryman. Also I have written depositions from Sam Dale, James Cornells and Zachariah McGirth where they make statements to corroborate Michaels claims for Indian land of which he was issued 640 acres under the treaty of Fort Jackson ticket #17. Michael's land claim was on Randons creek, Monroe County, Alabama and was within miles of neighbors such as Hannah Hale, Samuel and David Hale as well as John Miles, John Weatherford and Zachariah McGirth. Michael Ehlerts daughter Elizabeth married Alexander Dixon Moniac, and his daughter Celia married David Hale. Charles Elliott, A son of Michael Ehlert is shown on the 1832 Creek Census of Alabama as living in the town of Au-Lauga. Now you can see that these people all knew each other and interacted as they wer neighbors and family of each other. Common sense tells me that they married and befriended people within their areas and those of whom they and their parents were acquainted to. This is where some coincidents may come into play that could point out the family of Elizabeth Sizemore. Thomas Franklin and Elizabeth Sizemore lived in the same areas at the same times that Michael Ehlert and his decedents lived and the marriages of the children of Elizabeth Sizemore and Thomas Franklin point to this assumption.Their oldest child (?) Martin FRANKLIN was born South Carolina ca1802 He died in Conecuh County or Escambia County ca1868, he was married to Louisa Dees being the daughter of William Dees and Hettie Semoice their daughter Ellen "Nellie" Franklin married James Miles, son of John Miles and Polly Hale, another Daughter by the name of Elizabeth Franklin married Jefferson Holland who was the son of William Randon Hollinger and Lavetia Hettie Colbert. Williams dad was Adam Hollinger who married Elizabeth Moniac and the list goes on, point is all of these creek people seemed to be marrying within there circles and of course their homeland areas. Back to Jefferson Holland, born about 1810. Married in Escambia Co., FL, 1838 to 1st- Elizabeth Franklin, daughter of Thomas Jefferson Franklin and Elizabeth "Betsy" Sizemore. Alexander "Elick" C. Hollinger, born about 1816. Shown as Stock keeper, Ala on 1850 census. Married to Caroline Gaston, in Monroe Co., AL, on 12/26/1850, W. R. Agee, surety, N. A. Agee, J. P.. Several other marriages between Franklin and Elliott take place down the line such as Addie Franklin was born 1894, and died date unknown. She married Dallas Elliott on November 13, 1908, son of Michael S Elliott and Mary Steele. Lee Franklin died 1921. He married Annie Elliott, daughter of Michael S Elliott and Mary Steele. Mary Ella Franklin was born March 13, 1887, and died April 28, 1936. She married William H Elliott on April 20, 1905, son of Michael S Elliott and Mary Steele. Michael S. Elliott was son of Michael M Elliott who's Parents were Michael Ehlert and Peggy Bond/Elliott. Never the less, research will show many marriages between this circle of people, which again prompts me to look at this Sizemore family as being the Family of Elizabeth Sizemore Franklin, but who is it. The discrepancies come through the dates of birth in my discoveries, such as the Theory of William Sizemore Born: 1798, being the father of Elizabeth Sizemore Franklin who was born in the 1780's it just doesn't work. There has to be some hard evidence and facts amongst all of us to solve this puzzle, then documenting it. Jeff Moore jeff@moorebetter.com Notify Administrator about this message?
