My grandmother (87 yrs. old yesterday), is very insistent that her family came directly from France to Lousiana, 1600-1700's, then dispersed from there. My branch migrated to North Carolina (John and Ann ? SIVAGE), where their children were born ca. 1820's. Then ended up in Indiana (Hendricks County). I know they had relatives named ARCHER and HADLEY. This is a very tough line to trace!! Grandmother also said her family were Quakers (though not since early 1900's).
