As far as I know, John Sitton (Sutton) arrived in Enfield, Ct. from Aldeborough, England in 1628 on the Dilligent (Dilligence?). He had two sons, Philip who started the NC ironworks, and I don't recall the other. As I understand it, this is where the name started and branched from there in America. I have read the grant for the land and the forge in NC and BOTH names are in the document. Comments? Corrections? Thanks!
