Hello,

I just recently ordered and received a Widow's pension file for John Sutton and Susannah Bryant. I beleive this information will shead some light upon Susannah Sitton in Union County GA and from Buncombe County NC.

From Pension File # WC 30226

John Sutton and Susannah Bryant were married the 15th day of August 1811 in Buncombe County, North Carolina. They were married by Philip Brittian who was Justice of the Peace. John and Susannah were married in her father's house; her father was Benjamin Bryant, in Buncombe County, NC.
They lived in Bumcombe County NC till 1851 when they moved to Gilmer County GA. He went to California in 1852; and then reportedly went to Oregon in 1855 o4 1856; since which they did not hear from John Sutton again. John Sutton Pension---Bounty Land was applied for in the year 1868 and he received the Bounty Land.

John Sutton served in Cap Neals' Co militia. 13 Feb 1815 till March 1815 when treaty was signed. (War of 1812)
Susannah's discription of him on the Claim of Widow for Pension: "about 6 feet high, light hair, hazel eyes. Complexion Fair. Occupation farmer. Residense in Buncombe Co NC, Age 21-years." in 1815.

Affidavit of Joseph Reid was with John Sutton in Montazuma, California in 1855 and 1856. The last he saw John Sutton was in 1856 in Tuolnmna, CA. Then he heard that John Sutton was in Nevada City.
Joseph Reid returned to Union County, GA in 1856.

Affidavit of Lewis Queen states he lived in the same settlement in Buncombe County NC for 35 years with John and Susannah Sutton.
Lewis Queen states he moved to Union County, GA about 1845.
