Hello: I have been tracing Jacob Sistrunk (1811-1869?) because I believe he owned slaves in Neshoba, MS, who may have been my ancestors. He was married to Martha (1813-?) and they had 9 children: William, Joel, Mary, Susannah, Greenberry, Jacob K, Louisa, George and Thomas. Jacob's father was Jacob I Sistrunk (1786 SC-1841 GA), mother was Elizabeth Chamberlain (1788 VA-1852 GA). GGF was Gasper Sistrunk (1749 NC-1810 SC); GGGF was Heinrich Susstrunk (1716 Hamlicken, Andelfingen, Zurich, Switzerland - 1762 Orangeburg Dist, SC, USA); GGGGF was Hans Conrad Susstrunk (1684-1742 Humlikon, Canton, Zurich, Switzerland); GGGGGF was Heinrich Susstrunk (1642-1693 Humlicken, Switzerland) 1850 US Census shows Jacob, Martha and kids in Dawdells, Harris County, GA. The 1850 Slave Schedules show him as owner of these 4 slaves in same location: 23 y/o F/B; 6 y/o M/B; 4 y/o M/B; 1 y/o M/B 1860 US Census shows Jacob and family in Township 11 Range 13, Neshoba, MS. In their household is a 1 m/o white male named Jacob T BARRETT (1860 MS-?). The 1860 Slave Schedule shows Jacob and Reuben BARRETT owner of a 14 y/o black male in same location. He is listed as sole owner (same location) of these slaves: 16 y/o M/B; 7 y/o M/B; 5 y/o F/Mulatto; 3 y/o F/Mulatto. NOTE: a 33 y/o F/Mulatto and a 5 y/o F/Mulatto are marked on the census image as "Fugitives from the State". Jacob, Emma Wilson, N C Hagwood, E L Lewis, and E BARRETT are listed as owners of these 3 slaves, same location: 64 y/o M/B; 64 y/o M/B; 14 y/o M/B. I know this is a lot of data but please bear with me. My possible ancestor, Francis Sistrunk (1825 GA) is quite possibly the 23 y/o black female slave in 1850. Her son, Hillman is a match for the 4 y/o black male slave, and her son, Shadric, is a match for the 1 y/o black male slave. She could also be the 33 y/o fugitive mulatto female slave in 1860. Her daughter, Lucretia, was mulatto and could be either of the two 5 y/o female mulatto slaves in 1860. Francis is found with her children in 1870 & 1880 Noxubee, MS, but died apparently before 1900. Lucretia married Alfred Dobbins in 1871 and is not found on the census in 1900 or 1910. She is listed as "Crecia" Dobbins in 1920, a widow. She is living with her gr-dtr (my gm) Bertha Dobbins. Francis's other children were Willis (1852 GA) and Robert (1861 MS). What I am looking for is any wills or slave bills of sale, or some type of documents you might have that named the slaves owned by this Jacob Sistrunk. Thank you.
