I do not know if this will help, but here goes.... On my mothers side, her mother was full blood cherokee indian and grandpa refered to her as 'squaw' or 'smoke' because of her long black hair.. grandma had 15 children and one was a girl named Jane.. The grandparents lived in Salisaw Okla, until their deaths some 12 years ago. Many of their children still live in the Salisaw area and their last name is Ross....
