Jane,

Good to hear from you again. I haven't had much time lately to work on this line, but I've been working with several others. One notable is Carolyn Sutton. She's got lots of data on the Suttons. Not long ago she found something interesting which might be a lead. Here's her email to me:

Hello, while I was looking through my personal Sutton notebook on one of my Sutton Ancestors I found a
piece of info. that I couldn't look away from. It's a shot in the dark, but, at this point, that's all we have to go
on. This is what I found.....

Joseph Sutton, Sr., b. Oct. 15, 1745 in Culpepper Co. VA, m. Diannah Beck,b. May 14, 1749 in PA and
d. Feb. 1832 in Lincoln Co. MO.Joseph d. ?

Joseph and Diannah's children were :

1. John Sutton, b. 1767 in Culpepper Co. VA. He m. Rhoda Smith. This is all the info. I have on John And
Rhoda.

2. Jeffrey Sutton, b. 1769 in Culpepper Co. VA.He m. Mary Bostick

3. Joseph Sutton, Jr. , b. Jan. 10, 1772 in VA or NC. He d. aft. 1860 in Cocke Co. TN. He m. Elizabeth
Fox on the 11th. Aug. 1796 in Pendleton, SC. My line.

4. Phillip Sutton, b. 1774 in Orange Co. NC and m. Eleanor Gibson

5. Lydia Sutton, b. 1776 in Orange Co. NC and m. Joshua King

6. William Sutton, b. 1778 in Orange Co. NC and m. Ann Gray

7. Thomas Sutton, b. 1780 in NC or SC and m. Nancy Boze

If you will notice Joseph Sr. and Diannah kept moving south while having their family. It is possible that
John and Rhoda ended up in GA. The dates of John's birth is right. In order for Rhoda to have been 88
years old on the 1860 GA Census she would have to been born near 1772. This John was b. 1767. This
is close enough to match. Now if only we could find some info. on John and Rhoda. What do you think ?

Carolyn Sutton

Even if this turns out to be our line. There's still a lot of work to be done to tie it together.

I find it hard to believe that Belinda won't let you even look at the Bible. Is there something I could do to help. I'm a lot closer to Neshoba Co. than you are. I'm only a little less than 2 hrs away.

Alan
