Dear Researcher,
According to my research, Warren Lane is indeed the son of Warren, by the first marriage of Mahala (or Mahalia). It has taken quit a bit of effort to establish this, but she is undoubtedly a half-sister of Elihue. Her mother, Fanny Sisson (also listed in that census record) was married to Daniel Sisson, but earlier to William Harrison Kirby, about whom nothing is known, other than his date of marriage May 20, 1819 in Athens County, Ohio. Mahalia and Warren were joined together Feb 26, 1837, and their record can also be found from that county, which Vinton County had originally been a part of. There is a wealth of information on the Internet for the Lane and Sisson families... some which has been entered since your question was posed, and I would be glad to share it if undiscovered.
