Hi Vickie:
I found Betty and her father and mother in the 1930
census records for Litchfield, Meeker County, Minnesota.
Charles Sisson age 25
Bessie Sisson 23
Blanche 5
Betty M. 4
Suzie Theis 46 Mother in law
Marie Theis 13 sister in law
Joseph Theis 11 brother in law
It shows that Charles was born in Minnesota and his father and mother were both born in Kentucky. Charles worked for a seed house named either Hans Grain or Glans Grain. It was hard to read.
I also found a birth record for a Beverly Kay Sisson, born
July 10, 1940 that shows Charles V. Sisson and Bessie Theis as the parent's.
From an unverified sorce, I show that Charles was born August 5, 1903 and died November 16, 1956 in Meeker County, Minnesota.
It appears that Charles and Miles were names that were in this family for several generations.
Your Charles father was named Charles Virgil Sisson. He was born in October 1858 in Kentucky and died June 12, 1939 in Kandiyouhi County, Minnesota, a neighboring county to Meeker.
In 1900 Charles Virgil Sisson, 41 and his wife Bell Haws, 36 lived in Ellsworth Township, Meeker County, Minnesota.
Lilly 18, Salina 14,Kitty 12, Pearley 8, Laura 6, Blanche 3, and Ruth 1.
In 1910 Charles V. Sisson 52 and his wife Isabelle 47 lived in Dassel, Meeker County, Minnesota.
Pearl 18, Blanche 14, Ruth 12, Lorna 9, Charles 7, Miles 4.
In 1930 Litchfield, Meeker County, Minnesota, Chas V. Sisson is listed age 72 and is listed as a roomer with a family named Friend.
According to undocumented sources Charles was from Louisville, Kentucky and like I said Miles and Charles were names that went back at least 3 or 4 generations.
These areas that they lived are between 40 and 70 miles almost straight west from Minneapolis.
In the 1910 census there is a Miles Sisson age 50 with his wife and family. He was born in Kentucky and also had a son named Charles . They were also living in Dassel, Meeker County, Minnesota.
I could go back farther if you like, but it would all be undocumented, but it would give you a starting place to try to verify it.
I hope that will help you.
Larry Sisson
