I am not researching this family, but have been entering information from one of my books "Houses Virginians Have Loved" by Agnes Rothery, 1954. There is one mention of this woman and I thought this might help someone:

"On land granted in 1740 to Henry Cartmell, two Cartmell bachelors conceived the idea of building this great house on this site, with the Alleghenies sweeping into the Blue Ridge and Purgatory Mountain as a backdrop......a Cartmell niece, Anne Sisson, owned it briefly."

I put the name Cartmell in the search area and came up with nothing. I know a Cartmell wrote a history of the valley area.
