William "Riley" Goss was reportedly born in 1796 in the Barnwell District of South Carolina. His father appears to have been the early Matthew Goss born in 1734. Matthew Goss is listed in the initial 1790 Census for the Orangeburgh District of SC--along with Zachariah Goss and John Goss--all three are listed as free heads of family/household in 1790. Matthew Goss is closely connected to the Sisemore/Sizemore family. Matthew Goss was the neighbor of both Ephraim Sizemore and George Sizemore in 1790. Moses Goss apparently married into the Sizemore family. Can anyone contribute further to these lines?
