Melanie, I found your Sarah E. Sisco with Mary Jane in the 1880 census. My Mary Ann Sisco was married To Jasper Newton Weldon in Hill County, Tx. by 1876, and had a child or two by 1880.
What I find interesting about the Louis/Lewis Sisco stories is there are rumors that both(THE SAME?) men might have abandoned their families. There is the rumor in our branch that Louis/Lewis gave his children away after his wife either died, or left him. They reunited to some degree after the children were grown. Our Lewis/Louis was supposedly attacked & robbed of $5 when he was 65 and he died soon after from his injuries. This was somewhere between Temple and Houston, and I guess we will never know where. The date would have probably been mid-1880's. We think he was born around 1821.
This COULD be the same man. We know so little. Do you have any idea of his age when he married your ancestor?
Mary Ann Weldon's death certificate lists her father as being Louis Sisco, but no info on her mother. Before Mary Ann married she was said to be a ward of "Old Man Willbanks in Johnson County".
Thanks for responding.
Donna
