Looking for info on or kin of Arthur and Annie Fortin family of Bridgeport, CT...
My main interest is with Archie Fortin, who was killed in Belgium during World War 1.Pvt Archie Fortin entered service on Sept. 19, 1917 and served in Co B 304 Inf, Sup Co 328 Inf, Co H 328 Inf, 40 Co 10 Tng Bn 157 Dep Brig, and Co H 148 Inf until he was killed in action in Belgium on October 31, 1918.Pvt Fortin was buried in the Flanders Field American Cemetery in Waregem, Belgium.
Archie’s brother, Arthur T. Fortin, also served in the Army during the Great War.Arthur entered the service on Oct. 3, 1917.He served in Co G 307 Am Tn until his honorable discharge on May 16, 1919 as a corporal.
Archie’s parents were Arthur (Sr.) and Annie Fortin.Both were born in Canada, Arthur in Quebec and Annie in St. Eloie.Arthur’s (Sr.) father was Charles Fortin.Annie’s parents were Benjamin Sirois and Flazie LaBrie.When Archie and Arthur T. left for military service, the family was living at 921 Hancock Ave., Bridgeport, CT.When the Army reported Archie’s death to his father, the family was living at 26 Bentley Ave., Bridgeport.Besides Archie and Arthur, Arthur (Sr.) and Annie had at least 9 other children: Philias, Frederick, Joseph, Rosario, Homer, Edgar, Alice, and 2 daughters who married Arthur Cavanaugh and Arthur Parket.
Annie Fortin died in the Bridgeport Hospital on December 26, 1929.Arthur (Sr.) died there only 5 days later.At the time of their deaths, the couple resided at 370 Hawley Ave., Bridgeport.Both are interred in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Stratford, CT.
