Hello kathleen - Here is what I have on one John Sipes:
Virgil Evans was born in Butler County, Kentucky in 1876, son of Elizabeth White and Virgil Evans. On January 18, 1898 in Grayson (Butler) County, he married Josephine Sipes (Sipie). Her parents were John Sipes and Julia Coats and she was born in 1881. Virgil and Josephine had 5 children:
Charles Evans
Marie Evans
Delphie Evans born in March 1898 in Grayson Co.,Ky.
Ray Evans born on June 23, 1901 – died on April 13, 2000
Ralph Evans born in about 1905
? Evans
? Evans
On February 28, 1934 in Butler County, he married Samantha Howard, daughter of John Howard and Elizabeth Kessinger. Samantha was born in 1877.
Josephine died in 1961 and is buried in the Layman Memorial Cemetery in Caneyville, Kentucky.
I also have this:
Francis Melvina Evans was born in June 1862 in Butler County, Kentucky. Her parents were Berilla White and John C. Evans. She married James H. Sipes on November 20, 1880 in Butler County, Kentucky. James was born on August 26, 1860 and his parents were John Sipes and Sarah Givens. Francis and James had 5 children:
John H. Sipes born in July 1883
Harvey Sipes born in October 1885 and died on October 28, 1956
Annie E. Sipes born in August 1888
Amy Sipes born in December 1894 and died on October 9, 1917
Nathaniel Sipes born in July 1899
Francis died on February 15, 1946.
This is information I have received from others, so I don't have primary source documentation on any of it. My interest is in the Evans string which married into my White line, but if you have additional information on either of these Sipes, I would appreciate your contribution.
