On a family visit in Kennett, Missouri last month, I discovered the gravesite of C. W. Fort (my husband's grandfather through C. W.'s son, Roy Calvin Foster Fort). Am posting the information for any of Craven Fort's descendants who might be interested.
The grave is in the Varner River Baptist Church Cemetery and reads:
C W FORT
Born June 10, 1871
Died June 19, 1933
Our Fother
The cemetery is in Independence Twp., Dunklin County, MO, and is just north of Kennett, MO off County Road 430. I took a couple of photos of the grave site.
Next stop was in Arkansas to visit more Fort relatives. While going through a box of old family photos, we came across one which had written in faded pencil on the back:
"C W Fort, Died June 19, 1933, 2:30 Mon Day night"
Will be happy to e-mail the photos if requested.
Does anyone know where Craven's wife, Julia C. Sipes Fort, (who predeceased him, as I understand it, by about 13 years or so), is buried?? Does anyone have a picture of her? Does anyone know if he ever remarried?
