I was very interested to find out from my cousin Don Jenkins that you have a lot of information on the Sipes family. My great-grandmother was Anna Alberta Culham, daughter of Emily Sipes. My family still lives at Sheffield. Are you descended from Emily Sipes, or is the connection further back?
I have found the Sipes family to be a fascinating ancestral line, especially with all the Loyalist connections, including the Young and Windecker families. I have been wondering for a long time about the background of Henrietta Allen. Since she was apparently in Barton and married into a Loyalist family, one might guess that she would have an equally interesting Loyalist ancestry of her own. I have seen some sketchy material that lists her father as Alexander Allen, and some as John Allen, but neither give much more than that. Do you know anything about the Allen family?
I have also wondered about the great deal of movement from property to property that the Sipes seem to have undergone from when Jacob the Butler's Ranger arrived in Niagara, to his son Jacob farming in Glanford, to the older Jacob being buried in Beverly, to Nelson farming in Beverly. Do you have a good understanding of what was behind these moves? I suppose there may have been a lot of Loyalist land grants involved. I am only aware of Lot 3 Concession 8 Beverly being granted to Jacob the Butler's Ranger, but surely there must have been other land granted to Jacob and his children.
Also, do you have anything on Jacob's father-in-law, Frederick Williams? He sounds like an interesting character.
Nice meeting you,
