Here's a note for both of you on the Sink name. Yes, Zinck and Zincke are both parts of a sophisticated organ made by Germans, the previous being from the person's last name I believe.
These are some famous German composers' names:
Zinck, Hardenack Otto Conrad
Zincke, Hans Friedrich August (see Hans Sommer)
Zink, Zinck, and Zincke are also German names for either a particular brass wind instrument as well. From what little that I have been able to find out, since I am unable to translate the German language, it is similar to a coronet.
Sink, by some unknown genealogists, is also the name given to people who lived in valleys of Germany. This may be just heresey, but it's another reason why we Sinks have this surname.
What I want to know is if it's possible to find the records of these people when they came over here to the US and registered as citizens. I would like to know exactly where they were from and trace them back from that point in time.
My G-g-g-g-g grandfather is from Rotterdam, which I believe him to have waited for sometime to make the money to come over here. He is from Germany. His name was changed to the spelling of Sink from Zincke or Zink of which we aren't exactly certain of.
