Thank you, thank you for the Sink Family Genealogy Forum. My family will treasure this priceless piece for many years to come.
I'm quite old getting pretty closeto 80 years.Bought my first computer two years ago, so I'm not literate computerwise at all.
I do have some obituarties copies acquired thru the years by my parents on the Sink family in Oklahoma.Great Grandmother Mary Catherine Urton Sink visited last at our home when I was 5 years old.She is buried in Clayton, New Mexico.
If there is anything I can provide for you that would help please don't hesitate to ask.
The Golden Anniversary Edition of the Canton, Oklahoma newspaper (l only there),has pictures of family in it and articles of the early settlers. It was published August 4, l955.
The 1880 Census complied by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints shows the Sinck name for David R. Sink, and Mary C. Sink.In Oklahoma it was as far as I know always Sink........Could the record have been recorded incorrectly? So many, many puzzles.
I have forwared copies to D. R. Sink's living children. They are Ethel Sink James, 96 living in Woodland Hills, Ca., and Othel Morrell Sink 87, living in Cambellsville, KY.They both are pretty sound of mind, and are thrilled that the copies have been forwarded.
Even tho I have not lived my life in Missouri, I have been in St. Joseph now for nearly l0 years.I have visited Marshal, Saline County, Missouri with my parents many years ago when they were shocked to learn that Grandma Mary C. Sink maiden name was Urton. So much to learn......
Mary Sink Rites in New Mexico was published in the Canton, Oklahoma newspaper in l956.The following is a copy of Mary Sink's Obituary (My great-grandmother by Glenda Sink Shapley)
Mrs. Sink made the run at the opening of the Cherokee Strip and settled southwest of Waukomis, Oklahoma. She moved to Canton, Oklahoma in 1906 and had lived in Clayton, New Mexico, for the past 40 years.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Sink Wells, Eugene, Oregon:Mrs. Joe McGee, Enid, Oklahoma: six sons, Charlie Sink, Enid, Oklahoma; Dave Sink, Canton, Oklahoma; Bill Sink, Clayton, New Mexico; Dan Sink. Mountain View, Oklahoma; Bet Sink, Clayton, New Mexico and Romer Sink, Anadarko, Oklahoma and several grand children and great- grandchildren.
