SINK/LINK Confusion
I had noticed many years ago that some of the people who transcribed indices of the various census microfilms
consistently confused "S" & "L" script. Whenever I run across one of these mis-indexed entries I try to inform the relative forums. In these cases, the name SINK has been mistaken for LINK. In particular, Michael SINK is listed in the 1850 Forsyth Co NC census index as Michael LINK. The writing is very obvious. As is the entry for Philip SINK,
which is given in the 1850 NC index for Davidson Co as Philip LINK. The 1850 census index is notorious for these
types of mistakes. People searching the index for one name may want to try other names with look-alike first letters.Charlie Weaver, Winston-Salem, NC
