Around 2000 there was a man Bill Singley posting about this family and offering a Gedcom of this whole line - I e-mailed his address and it was returned. I am researching the George Singley family - he born 28 Mar 1772?- born in Pennsylvania somewhere on the Schuykill River not far from Philadelphia according to a tribute at his death, died 1 Feb 1881, Moulton Iowa - claiming to be 109 ( in the 1860 census he said he was 69, in the 1870 one, living with his son Eli, he claims 94 as his age. Also claimed his father lived to be 110 and his mother 105.) If he is the George Singley, gunsmith, son of George the oldest son of Martin and Cornelia (Kern) Singley who was born in 1755, in Lehigh Township, Northampton County, Pennsylvania, I would be interested in any Gedcom someone might have on this line.( I have a Mac, for Gedcom info)My question that I am trying to solve revolves around his daughter, Sarah Jane Singley was born 1836 in Johnstown, PA..Various websites claim Sarah married (1) McFadden and that Sarah also married (2) James Davidson on 5 May 1857. Did she move west with George and his wife, and sons Eli and John, and did she have a McFadden child named( Turzey, Tersey or Tirza)? Tursey is in the 1860 census with George and wife and sons, age 6 and named Tursey Singley, b. Iowa; in 1870 she is not living with him and his second wife, but in the 1870 census, Moulton, Appanoose, Iowa, a Fursey Mc Fadden age 16 b. Iowa, domestic servant in household of George L Wax a carpenter -he b. PA. Sarah is not in the area, as far as I see. In 1870 a Tirza McFadden married Orlando Scott Pulliam and had 3 children - 6 weeks after the third child was born, family story is she ran off to Hopkins, Nodaway Co., Missouri with the hired man. This would have been before Dec. 1878 when Orlando sold land, and listed himself as a single man. Daughter Ora was adopted by Charles and Jennie Frazier - she was 6 wks old. 17 Oct 1880, he married Alice Ransom, who had lived next door to the Singley family in Moulton, Iowa. Do you have any information on this? Can you confirm that George of Moulton, Iowa, is the son of George and Barbara, and thus the Martin line? Does anyone have suggestions of where else to look to confirm this line? Thanks.
