My ggrandfather, Asa Walker Singleton had a brother named Richard Lee.Richard Lee was born in Horry County May 31, 1865.The only thing we know about him is that he moved to Georgia.I have a letter he wrote to his parents, Samuel Harper and Charlotte Singleton on January 17, 1892.The letter is written on stationery from a company called M.L. Horton & Purdom, General Merchandise in some town in Georgia that looks like Saussy.I haven't been able to find this town on any map.He talks about the small town and how it is tough to find work.He mentions that he is staying with Ben Somthing that looks like Stanford.
What makes me think that we may be connected is that Samuel H.'s father, John, is believed to be descended from John Greer Singleton who owned land near Socastee.
I'd be glad to hear from you.Grandma Charlotte kept a family bible with lots of info. on births, marriages and deaths.
