Hi,
I am trying to get information or a lineage that connects the Singleton line of my family with the Singletons of Lancashire.
My great, great grandmother was Mary Ann Singleton, (born 1861) in Hoxton/Shoreditch in the east end of Londonm England. (She married a Richard Alderman Rowson in about 1880)
Her Parents MAY have been William (Born c 1845?) and Mary (born 1840?) - This is mainly a guess as the records are very vague.
That's is as far as I have got with this line.
The interesting thing is that Mary Ann used to recount stories to my grandfather (then a boy) about how they had come down from Broughton Tower in Lancashire to London, how our family had once been wealthy and even had their own coat of arms.
Now, I have no idea of how many generations that story was passed down but I would love to find out more.
I am trying to fill in the gaps ... Any information will be greatly received.
