Singletary Family Genealogy Forum

Hello all, I wanted to let you know that after a 10+ year search I have finally found the parent(s) of my gggrandfather James Alexander Singletary. My husband and I went to Georgia, Mississippi and then to Alabama to find a will of a John D. (Dunham) Singletary in Monroe Co., Alabama. We found instruments in the Monroe Co., courthouse stating that James Alexander Singletary of Monroe Co. (where James was living until 1866-67), GA was "son of John D. Singletary" of Monroe Co., Alabama. There was also a giving and taking away of Power of Attorney for Dunham Singletary and an instrument giving property to John's "beloved" wife Margaret (also of Monroe Co., GA). all dated May 4, 1842. As to whether Margaret is the mother of Dunham, James and Mary (others?), there is still a question mark. Now my line is no longer a "missing link family" in Yvonne Brunton's Singletary book. It's a shame I can't let her know this!
