Bowes family
Posted by: Hilary Boland (ID *****9101) Date: September 05, 2012 at 05:23:24

Help please. I am looking for any information about my great grandfather, James Edward Bowes, who was a british subject born in Straits Settlement 24/11/1869 and moved to London sometime before 1911. There is a record of him being a fireman, so that would be in first proper firestation and I think it was 1901 or perhaps earlier. His father was James Henry Bowes who could have been a sailor. There is a story of playing cricket outside Raffles, if that helps anyone to make a connection. I would be grateful if anyone can supply hints to help my search.
