Hi Ian,

While I was living in Singapore I did copy some of the pages of the Bidadari cemetery. I have checked these which are mainly about the early 1940's but didn't see the name there. The Register is held by the National Heritage Board, National Archives of Singapore. I did however find the following in the Changi Internment Camp Nominal Roll of Internees as at 31 May 1943:

Card Index No: 145
Name: BARTELS, Teke T.
No in camp register: 3130
Camp address: 2.Picc (Block 2 formerly Block B, Piccadilly
Age: 32
Nationality: Dutch
Occupation: Miner, D.E.I

Card Index No: 146
Name: BARTELS, Walter R.
No in camp register: 2199
Camp address: entry ruled through and Rtd 31.5.42 written
Age: 25
Nationality: Eur
Occupation: P.W.D. J.B (Johor Bahru)

Trust that this is helpful.
