Can anyone help me with this information for Maria Sergevna Speelman? (nee Klechkino?)
Birth: 1910? Northern China;
Death: 1972 Sydney, Australia
Before WW2:Nurse (French Sister’s Qualification)in Shanghai
After WW2:Lab Technician at ‘British + American Tobacco Company’ in Shanghai
1950+:Assistant nurse in Sydney
1950-1972: Received alimony from Joseph Speelman (Kuala Lumpur)
Husband – Joseph Speelman born 9 Jan 1904 in Russia
Divorced – Kuala Lumpur 1950/51
Maria Sergevna Speelman and Thomas Anthony Ward (her late sister’s son) were interned in a Japanese Camp in Shanghai from 1943-1945
June 1943 Great Western Road Camp, which was the former American Columbia Country Club
April 1945 moved to Sacred Heart Hospital compound in Yangtzepoo
1950/51 Maria and Tony (Thomas Henry) travelled from Shanghai to HK by train;
HK to Singapore by ship (a week’s trip);
Singapore to Kuala Lumpur (DC3) by plane
(They stayed about 3 months in Kuala Lumpur),
Kuala Lumpur to Singapore (DC3);
Singapore to Freemantle (WA, Australia) ship;
Perth to Adelaide (plane)
They stayed a few days in Adelaide with Mrs Grubensikov at Leichardt
She lived in a few places in Sydney with sister, Anna Novitsky and Tony Ward.
