1942 burials during occupation

my grandmother, carina engracia didier, died in 1942 s'pore. her children were young and no-one knows where she was buried. would the japanese occupation of affected christian burials at all? also, if a family couldnt afford a burial, what would of happened? im a tiny bit clueless..
any help appreciated.
