Searching for anything on this Sims clan of KY/TN border. This is what I've researched up until now. Thanks in advance for any assistance. Btw.. I posted this info to the wrong thread a little while ago, thinking perhaps I was helping... whoooppss... don't beat my husband Thomas, as I'm to blame.

Donna Gail Varner Akehurst (3rd Great Granddaugther of Russel(l) Sims.

Parents of William H. Sims:

John Sims b abt 1855, Tennessee, USA. Residence in 1880, Fentress County, TN. He died some time bef 1911 as this is when his wife Sarah E. Sims passed as a widow. She appeared in the 1910 Census of Jellico, Campbell, TN with her son William H. and his wife Millie and their family and two of her own sons, Abraham and Dillard, listed as brothers to William H.

Sarah E. Sims b Jun 23, 1858, Wayne County, KY, daughter of William Russell Sims b 1831, Wayne County, KY, died 1908 in Robbins, Scott County, TN, (research by Michael Story, Sunbright TN) and Delilah Smith b 1831, Kentucky died 1911, Robbins, Scott County, TN buried at Todd Cemetery. William Russell is the son of Russell Sims (sometimes noted as Russel Sims) b. abt 1805 North Carolina, USA died aft 1870, (lived in Wayne County, KY in 1850 and Clinton KY in 1870) and Sally Marcum b. abt 1810 in Kentucky, married Dec 16, 1831 (Ancestry One World Tree). Sally Marcum is the daughter of Major Marcum (misspelled to Mager Marcom) b 1779 Va d bef 1810, Montgomery Va and Rachel Kelly b ? in Va. Sarah's residence in 1910 in Jellico, Campbell, TN. Died July 27, 1911, Whitley County, KY, as a widow of John Sims as witnessed by son. Notes: Died of Bright's Disease. Her son A H Sims filled out the paperwork incorrectly and noted his mother's parents as his own.

Children of John and Sarah E. Sims:

1. William H. Sims b abt 1876 Pickett County, TN. Residence in 1880, Fentress County, TN (1880 Census); Residence 1910 - Jellico, Campbell, TN (1910 Census).

Married Mar 18, 1900 - Whitley County KY to Millie Barnett. (One World Tree Ancestry)

Children:

1a. Elijah B Sims b Dec 21, 1901 in Whitley County KY. Residence 1910, Jellico, Campbell, TN.

1b. Biddy Sims b abt 1906, Kentucky, USA. Residence 1910, Jellico, Campbell, TN.

1c. Fanny Sims b abt 1909, Kentucky, USA. Residence 1910, Jellico, Campbell, TN.

2. Willie Lincoln Sims b. ? Tennessee, USA

3. Susie Bell Sims b. ? Tennessee, USA

4. Delilah Sims b abt 1878 Tennessee, USA

5. Elijah Marian Sims b Apr 15, 1880, Tennessee d May 27, 1913 of Pulmonary Tuberculosis.

6. Fanney Sims b Jun 27, 1885, Tennessee d Sept 29, 1914 Noted as married at time of Death. Died of Tuberculosis as did her brother, Elijah Marian Sims. Signed by Beacher sims as informant, her husband.

Children:

6a. James W. Sims b abt 1908 (sorry, I haven't done more research on Fanney and Beacher's line)

6b. Eva Sims b abt 1909 (ditto)

7. Abraham L. Sims b may 13, 1891 d Nov 1969 in Goose Rock, Clay, Kentucky. (SSDI and Kentucky Death Records differ on the County of death, which is probably due to hospital being in the next county) Abraham is likely the one to have signed his mother's death certificate.

8. Dillard Sims b 1895 in Fentress County, TN. according to incomplete WWI draft registration. (There is another Dillard that can be confused with this Dillard.)
