He never married but he did have a son William J Simonton Jr by Della Marie Brown in 1935. I'm amazed that you found that many African American Simontons. I realize that trying to find black ancestory is a little harder, especially when know that adopted their surname from their slavemasters. From the research that I seen, the Simonton name originated from the United Kingdom. I kind of figured that whoever the slavemaster was did not own alot of slaves or that very few took their last name. I believe this because of the few African Americans with that surname.
