I have now 2 genealogies done by family historians. These genealogies do not have attributions or citations. So, for what it's worth, here are some connections between the Simontons of PA and those of the Parkersburg area of WVa (Ritchie and Pleasants Cos.):
John Simonton, of Antrim Co, Ireland (Ulster) was minister of the Great Valley Presbyterian Church of Chester Co., PA (outside Philadelphia). In 1765 he brought to live with him his 2 nephews, John (b 1754) and William. Nephew John m. Mary Wiggins (1776); William married her sister, Jane (sp. "Jean" in thread 276 here). Nephew John's son was Thomas, b. 1790, then in Greene Co., PA. Thomas married Sarah Britton in Greene Co. His children were: Thomas (m. Delila); John Wiggins (m Saloma (or Catherine?) Renner; James H., m. Priscilla Darling; Sarah, m. Sylvanas Smith Jr.; Louisa m. Kinsey McCloud; Millie, m. David Dadress.
My line descends from the John Wiggins Simonton line. He and Saloma moved to Ritchie Co., WVa in 1856. Children: John (b. 1835; died 1863 in WVa infantry); Charlote (b 1837); James H (b 1839, d 1863 in WVa infantry; Thomas A (b 1841, d 1863, WVa infantry); Kinsey M (b 1843, M Martha Locke); William (b 1846, m Victoria Maria McCullough); Catherine (b 1849 m Dillon, died in Kansas); Sarah (b 1853, m Will Wince WVa); Benjamin F (b1856, m Maria); Martha A (b 1859, m Lyns Greggs).
My great grandfather was William above (b. 1846). His children were: Alonzo (b 1873); Rachel (1875; died in Kansas); Mary (1878); Harvey (1879; died Oklahoma); William Otto (1881); Martha A (1883); George Thomas (1884); John W (1887); James (1888, d. MS); Susie (1889, d Ohio); Daniel G. (1891, d OK);l Henry B (1893, d Ohio); Ona O (1895); Benjamin Franklin (1897, d Long Beach, CA); Ray Dewey (1899). All resided in and were deceased in WVa, except where noted.
My grandfather was James Brady (1888).
Franklin, son of Alonzo, still lives at the Simonton family homestead in the mountains outside Pennsboro, WVa.
The above information comes from Mack Simonton (now deceased), of Edmond, OK, son of George Thomas above, based on his research in the 1970s and 1980s. Mack visited Ireland in the 1980s, and visited a Simonton "cousin" who lived outside Belfast, Co. Antrim; this Ulsterian Irish lady, Betty Simonton, took Mack to local Simonton graves, and paid a return visit a year to so afterward, visiting relatives, including my family in Natchez, MS. Betty had no relatives in Belfast, and wanted to know something about her family's American descendants.
I have a bit more information about the names above.
