I know how you feel, all this information and so many conflicting stories. This is what I have on Andrew Simonton - Andrew, George, and William went from Scotland to North Ulster Ireland then to ME "Immigrants to New England 1700-75" by Ehel Stanwood Bolton, lists "Andrew Simonton of Portland from Stubane IRE 1718 - admitted as resident in 1727". Andrew married Ann Douglass and had children, one being James. James and his family migrated to Rockport in 1769? The only family here at the time was Thorndike. James and his wife Ann Lane hand four children. One named Eizabeth married a Gregory. James' oldest son James Jr., married Susan Grosse. They had a large family. I have yet to get names except for one, which is John. This John had a son Patrick, Patrick married Mary Pasqual. Patrick's son Andrew married an Ingraham and their son Raymond L Simonton was born in 1879. This is my great grandfather. Raymond married Estelle M. Marshall. They had seven children, Raymond E., Harvey, Sara, Howard, Donald (my grandfather), Catherine, and Edgar. I know this may add more confusion, as I said before there are so many stories. But I also hope it offeres new information to work with. A great site to look at concerning the symingtons/simontons in Scotland is www.geocities.com/symingtonfhs/
