Simonson Family Genealogy Forum

My granfater was George Simonson. He was a foundling on the streets of New York at age 5 in 1898. He was found at 449 Liberty Avenue and his date of brth is recorded as July 7, 1893. I am trying to find anything about his family. In a letter from Children's Aid Society in 1941 he was told that his father's name was Stephan Simonson and his mother was Lizzie Mantz and that he was born in Brooklyn.
From his recollections: he had a younger brother named Willie who was also orphaned (died in his teens on a farm in Delaware)and a sister named Mable who was adopted by a family in New York. He was visited in the orphanage by his grandmother before he was sent to Delaware where a family took him in at age ten to help work their farm.
Any help anyone can give me would be appreciated. It is a great mystery to me as to what happen to my great grandparents, who they were, and so on.
