I am sorry to hear that your father suffered from emphazema for so long,my grandfather also had it.
Are you doing research for your family tree? If so maybe we could share information on the Simonds line. I just returned from Tennessee and North Carolina and did a little research while there. My husband had never seen his grandfather's gravesite so we also visited the Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in Wolf Creek. We took pictures while there and I posted them on findagrave.com if you are interested in seing them.
