Woman Dies of Burns
(Associated Press)
Denver, Oct 27--Mrs. Ida Simon, 50 of 1529 Federal boulevard, died in the Denver General hospital Wednesday afternoon of burns suffered a few hours earlier when her dress caught fire while she was singeing a chicken in the back yard of her home.
Her son, Benjamin, 23, told police that his mother was using a folded newspaper to burn feather remnants off the fowl and when the flames spread to her clothing she called to him for help.
He tore her garments from her, but she already had suffered third degree burns.
