Hello ,
I read your inquiry on one of the genealogy websites and I was curious if you have ever found a connection between any Simon Family group in the early years of West Virginia, 1700 0r 1800s?
I am the 4th Great Granddaughter of George Simon, who married Cecilia Reger, as proven by their marriage bond.
Just about, every single person on the internet (ancestry, roots, etc) and even the HACKER'S CREEK (WHICH MY RESEARCHER HAD SO MANY PERSONAL PROBLEMS, THAT SHE MISLEAD THE PROMISE TO ACTUALLY HELP ME), as well as the Simon/Simons Colaterial line Group, several historians, I've contacted over the years can not connect these many Simon and other families. It has never been done. I have collected family trees from many of them over a 10 year period, maps, deeds, wills.
I usually post the following ad (below), but the few people that have replied, promise to help and never do, so I am very careful what information I actually send out.
I am only hoping that you might know something, that connects some of these families? The parents of my George Simon has never been proven, with actual documentation. It seems, that a Dean Cockran (?), might have started to declare that his parents were Barbara Rohrbaugh and Christian Simon, never stated a sources. Several people on Roots, etc, such as "sagicorn2004 ??" declares the same. I emailed him and he did not reply, like many others, who are content to post unproven information. He has even posted incorrect dates of my ancesters and doesn't care to change them. Many others are like this.
George Simon did not return to Virginia, but died some where in Missouri, this I know, because I have traced censuses records.
Sorry, the letter, is so long. I sure hope you could help. I have check all archives and some court records, but live to fair away to really check.
Any research ides? Directions to take? Anything?
Would you like to research together. I am trying to form a small group, to start connecting all the Simon, Rohrbaugh, Hinkles, Reger Families of Hardy, Lewis, Harris, etc counties. I have contacted a Barbara Scott Simon and hope to contact a Margaret L(?), who wrote to you. If we work together, perhaps we can start connecting many of these families. I am trying to form a little group. I have one other person, a Barbara Scott to write(email) through out the years on making connections with these families. No fees, just a pen pal friendship. Are you interested? Email me back at, thanks.
