Not sure how James Rumsey entered the conversation but anyway these maps of Fairfax co va. will show all the family names you have mentioned earlier. Just google the family names you are looking for Lewis, Clark, Simms, Lee and numerous sites will appear.

My Carbonneaus are possbily related to the Charbonneaus who left France back in the 1600s and went to Canada but they would be related to my fathers ancestors about 10-12 generations back. I heard once that the Carbonneaus orginally migrated from Italy during the Renaissance to southern France. Who knows. There is a town with the name Carbonneau with a little Chateau de Carbonneau that has been turned into a B&B/Winery, located in the Perigord Region. My Carbonneaus came from the Languedoc region for many generations back into the 1700s. I do not know the history of this chateau.
