Simms Family Genealogy Forum

Have you seen this link. I have seen many links that show a relationship between Simms and Lewis, and they all lived in Fairfax County or close by. Of course the Washingtons lived nearby too. Many of these norhtern neck families married each others brothers, sisters, cousins, for many generations. There is probably a link. I am not sure I can help. I do not believe this is my Simms family. There were many Simms/Sims/Semmes in the area so this is why I am having trouble with it. I do not find a Clark or Lewis in my line so far. The closest I might get is Col. Charles Simms. There is a 1862 map of Fairfax County Virginia , Military maps of the Civil War, that you can see online through David Rumsey maps. It is a super website and you can zoom in on the detail of the maps and see the family names marked on the map where their properties were living. Granted this is 1862 but the property stayed int he family a long time. You can see Mt Vernon, Simms, Lees, and many more.
