Dear Ms. Torrence,
The only thing I have on Rhodam is that he failed to appear for muster in 1802 and that he was in Capt. William Stark's company. Because these boys were assigned to companies near their places of residence, I can tell that he lived somewhere up what is now Rt. 610 (Garrisonville Road). That matches with the information from the Simms book that noted the intermarriages between the Simms and Bridwells who also lived up that way. Several other men in Stark's company lived in what is now the Quantico Marine Corps reservation, so Rhodham may have done, as well. Here's an interesting bit of trivia. I was never exactly sure how "Rhodam/Rodham/Rhodham" was pronounced. Whoever made the lists for the militia records seems to have spelled largely by phonetics. In several cases Rhodam was spelled "Roadham" and I suspect it was written that way because that's how he was hearing it pronounced.
Take care,
Jerrilynn
