It seems that my Simms family lived in possibly Athens, Meigs, Jackson, Vinton, and Gallia Counties, Ohio. I have Franklin Simms born 1848 in Gallia County, Ohio died 1882 in Vinton County, Ohio. I've been tracing a possible brother of Franklin's, Elias Sims. There seems to be one Elias Sims born about 1858 in Athens County, Ohio who was enlisted in the Army in New York in 1886 and another Elias Sims born about 1850 in Gallia County, Ohio who also re-enlisted in the Army in New York in 1895.
Any information about either one of the Elias Sims or Franklin Simms would be well appreciated. I've been hoping to find a census record with the two brothers together, but have not been able to locate one so now I'm doing a more regional search of Simms families and trying to piece them together.
