SAVAGE – At 7:15 A.M., Sept. 29, 1884, Joseph L. SAVAGE, only son of the late George SAVAGE, in the 56th year of his age. Requiem mass at St. Aloysius’ Church at 9:30 o’clock Wednesday morning, which all his relatives and friends are invited to attend. Baltimore, Philadelphia, and New York papers please copy.

Mr. Joseph L. Savage, the well-known hardware dealer, died suddenly yesterday morning at his residence, 67 K Street, NE of fatty degeneration of the heart. Deceased was the eldest son of the late George SAVAGE and has been identified with the hardware business since his boyhood. He was a member of Pioneer Council, Sons of Jonadab. He was born in Baltimore, but removed to the District 47 years ago, and was about 56 years old at the time of his death. He leaves a wife and eleven children. His funeral will take place from St. Aloysius Church.

The funeral of Mr. Joseph L. Savage took place yesterday morning from St. Aloysius’ Church, where low mass was celebrated by Rev. Father O’Connor. The remains were taken to Mt. Olivet and interred in the family lot. The pall bearers were Messrs. M. Murphy, W. Flinn, R. O. Polkinhorn, Dr. Evans, H. P. Gilbert, E. G. Wheeler, M. D. Stack, and Paul Conner.
