I'm trying to track down some information on Charles Carroll Simms of Virginia. He was an officer in the United States Navy in the 1850's, and later resigned his commission to enter the Confederate States Navy in 1861. He commanded several ships during the Civil war including the CSS Appomattox. He survived the war, but I have not been able to track down any other information about this man. Any help with his personal history or descendents would be greatly appreciated.
