Dear Charles,

I am perplexed. I have seen Susanna Burtles married to Mark Simms 1769 in Trinity Parish, Charles Co, Md, who remarried a Catherine after Susanna died; Catherine gave a final accounting of his estate Mar 13, 1821. Children listed were: Chloe, Charles, Francis, Elizabeth (all Simms) and Rebecca, Cibilla, and Ann Wathen (7 total.)

Then I have seen that Marmaduke Semmes/Simms married Susanna Burtles in 1774 and had the three children you cite: Alleweaser, Sarah and the child my wife is now big with." (possibly James Burtles Simms?)

Have you run into this, and have you resolved it, or know any more, such as, were there two Susanna Burtles? Was Mark Simms and Marmaduke the same person? (Doubtful)
Mark b abt 1737 was son of Fidelmus and Elizabeth Bryan Simms; Marmaduke b 1741 was the the son of Francis and Lucretia Chapman Simms.

Thank you for any insight you have.
Tosca
