I am looking for information on the family of John SIMS (aka SIMMS) b. abt 1809; d. aft 1880, married to Sarah (possibly LOMAX ) b. abt 1810; d. abt 1869. They immigrated sometime around 1843 and John was naturalized in 1848 in a Philadelpia County Courthouse.
John and Sarah had at least one son: Robert SIMS (aka SIMMS ) b. abt 1835; d. 23 Jan 1899. Robert married a Mary A. (last name unknown) and had at least the following children:
Clara Amanda SIMS (b. 15 Mar 1859; d. 17 Aug 1919) md. in 1879 to John Latchaw SAY (1851-1898)
Bertha J. SIMS married Madison Clair ROBB
John Perry SIMS (b. abt. 1863; d. 12 Dec 1923)
Sarah C. SIMS (b. abt. 1864; d. 5 Nov 1920)
Phillis SIMS (b. abt. 1869; d. ?)
Emily or Emma SIMS (abt. 1870-1947) md. George P. McCAMEY
Newton SIMS (b. abt. 1874; d. ?)
Ross J. SIMS (b. abt. Apr 1884; d. ?) md. Frances L. (last name unknown)
These SIMS / SIMMS lived in or near Venango Twp., Butler Co., PA starting by 1854, when John SIMS purchased a plot of land from the SLOAN family.
It is believed that John SIMS' wife may have had the last name LOMAX as there appears to be an elderly female by the name Frances LOMAX living with the SIMS family in 1860. She could be a mother-in-law.
Any information or assistance would be greatly appreciated. Happy to share what I know of this line's descendants.
