Stephanie:
Matthew Simms had a daughter, Drusilla Simms, who married William Bagby, May 1, 1770, in Hanover County, Virginia. They had six children: Jenny, Reuben, Robert, William Simms, Nancy, Matthew Simms.Drusilla died March 1, 1786.
Matthew Simms died sometime after the death of his daughter, but before June 1806.In the will of William Bagby, Matthew Simms is mentioned as follows:
Will of William Bagby, Cumberland County, Virginia, proved 1806.
Sons, Robert, Reuben, William, Matthew, John, James and Bennett; daughters, Jenny Murray, Betsy, Patsy, Judy, Polly and Nancy. "Whereas Matthew Simms, father of my former wife, Druscilla, now deceased, departed this life after the death of my former wife by his last will and testament, bequeathed a legacy of money to be divided between the three sons of Druscilla, William, Reuben, and Matthew, above named. . ."
William married after the death of Druscilla and had eight more children by the second wife, Elizabeth Murray -- hence all of the additional childrens names in the will.
I have much additional material on the decendants if you are interested.
