I may not have a dog in this discussion, but I have a lot of interest. Here is my thoughts. And let me say your research is great.
A lot of John and William Simmons and they are hard to keep apart and see a direct line. I think it would clearify a little if the wifes name is included, like John (Cockes) Simmons d. 1749 and John (Vaughan) Simmons d. 1738
Death dates and wives are about all we have to seperate them.
From reading this query in (Par 7) I noticed that you list John (Cockes) Simmons Jr. d 1749 as son of John (Vaughan) Simmons Sr. d 1738 who was son of William Simmons. I believe the John's are reversed. If so, in (Par 9) where you say that John Vaughan list John Simmons's grandfather still living would be right cause John (Cockes) Simmons d. 1749 would still be alive and the father John (Vaughan)Simmons d. 1738 would have died. I would think that John (Jones) Simmons d. 1773 is the grandson of John Vaughan.
I show, but can not prove, that Mary Lee was a daughter of John (Jones) Simmons d. 1773 and that she was living with her parents with her two children, Frederick and Burrel Lee after the death of her husband. I guess she could have been the sister to John (Jones) Simmons d.1773 and daugther of John (Vaughan) Simmons d. 1737 and living with her brother.
The part that really confuses me is that Christopher Mooring married Rebeca Vaughan Simmons apparently in 1744 or earlier and was appointed guardian of John, William and Mary because they were not of the age 14 in 1744. If this John Simmons was the John (Jones) Simmons d. 1773, he would not have been born until at least 1730. It does fit in with the dates I have for William (Hunt) Simmons 1730-1795.
I list and can't show any source or proof, but that John (Jones) Simmons d. 1773 was married to a Lewis or Greene. Have you ever seen anyting like that?
I can't understand either why Henry Jones Jr. would give his godson William land in 1743 (at age no older than 13 and not John or Mary). Don't really understand the ideal about Godfathers.
Just some thougts.
